Shared threads
installation, acrylic painting on bed sheets, performance, video documentation of performance”
This work comes out from my previous work Anonym, where I was creating small drawings on the narrow ribbon of textile. I was redrawing the conversations on the internet in semi private groups for mothers where they shared experiences about the daily child care but also very intimate problems which I find related to social isolation of mothers. It can be the stereotype, depression, frustration, domestic violence. Drawings didn't describe linear narration of one story but every6 woman added her experience, opinion, advice, so at the end there is some kind of "shared experience". Stylization of the drawings is very simple, in contrast to the dramatic situations which they present. For the new installation I chose some of these small drawings and I repainted them on the bed canvas. I changed the size from small and intimate to big and public evidence. I decided to use a bed sheet because it is also very intimate home textile. I didn't buy new bed sheets but I bought used bed sheets on the internet. As well as the story or the problem on the internet was shared by many women. I present the drawings on the bed sheets as a performance where I am hanging them on the clothes lines. By this way I come out from my previous practice in animated film, because there is an order of drawings presented in time. The viewer has time to look at the drawings while I'm hanging them till the posterior paintings will cover the earlier ones.
